No One Said it Would be Easy

Sometimes the most loving thing is also the hardest thing you will ever do.
But we do the hard thing because we do love.

“The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps” (Proverbs 16:9)
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13)

Happy Father’s Day Pa!

It was a busy week last week, with school ending and finalizing details for my mission trip, but I have to say: the best part was that my family came to town for a few days. Actually , it wasn’t my entire family, only my parents and Hannah…but still.
It was funny because my parents surprised me by showing up at my work the day they came into town. After I visited with them for a while some of the people I worked with asked me if they were my parents. They were joking around saying things like, “If those are your parents where did you get your height?” I had to explain that George isn’t my birth father (and that having a disease like Cystic Fibrosis can really stunt a persons growth) but I felt weird doing that because I never think about George being anything but my “real dad”. In fact, writing this post and calling him George instead of Dad is a little strange for me.

My co-workers started to ask if I had ever met my birth father and I told them I had not. They asked if I ever wanted to and I told them that I thought about it when I was younger but I NEVER think about it now. I don’t think about it because I don’t care. Why would I want to meet some guy who happens to be my father but has never known anything about me past the age of 2? I don’t need to because I have a father right here; his name is George.

Mexico Here I come!

One month! O my gosh, I’m leaving in one month! In four short weeks I will be on my way to training in MN as preparation for a month long tour in Guadalajara, Mexico. I’m looking forward to meeting new people, visiting a new/different culture, and serving the LORD in whatever capacity He allows. But I’m especially excited about going on this tour as a co-leader with Paul Vasilko. Paul was my leader last year when we went to Singapore, and he was flippin’ amazing! I can’t wait to see what the LORD will teach our team (and myself) through Paul, how He will minister through Paul, and how much growth we will all experience while we’re away.
Please pray for us. Pray that our hearts will be sensitive to the leadership of the Holy Spirit. Pray that we will treat each other with love and honor so that others might see the love of Christ through us. Pray that the Lord would give us favor with the people in Mexico. Pray that we will all stay healthy physically and spiritually that we might serve the LORD in all fullness. And pray that God would soften the hearts of those we meet that they may receive Jesus Christ as their Savior forever.

Hannah’s Home!

Yay, I’m so excited, I picked up Hannah yesterday from the airport, and she gets to stay with me until graduation next Friday. I just love my sister. I’ve missed her. When I saw her waiting for me at the airport I thought, wow, she’s getting to be so beautiful! And I’m so proud of her! She is going to be the first Ehret girl to go straight into a 4-year university. She will do great things.
Anyone who doesn’t know her is totally missing out in life. Praise the Lord for Hannah! (And for Marissa, Emma and Abbie of course ).

I love my camera

I got a new camera last month, specifically because I had a wedding to shoot in Rohnert Park on June 2nd. I have to say, I am completely satisfied with this beautiful piece of equipment. Just look at the pictures it took!

A big thanks to Eric and Amie for letting me have the pleasure of capturing their big day on film…’er…memory card. Not only was I excited by the fantastic performance of my camera, I also enjoyed every minute of my stay in the Doubletree Resort Amie put me up in. Look at this place; it’s gorgeous!

It was a good weekend, I was glad to get away from reality for a while and just hang out in a place where no one knew me (except for April of course).
