Bittersweet Graduation

22 Jun

The last time I saw my dad was at Fortuna High graduation 2007, (for Hannah’s graduation…which you can read about in previous posts) so it was very surreal to be back this year to see Graduation 08.

That was really the main purpose of my visit back home (CA)…to see my East High students graduate. I was so proud of them. You guys finally made it guys! Good work!

I think being at the graduation was more therapeutic than I had expected. It brought back a lot of good family memories of our graduations and high school experiences together. But it was also a chance for me to see the students I had been working with before I came to CTI. I had some of these kids since they were in 5th GRADE!!!!!!!! So it was good closure for me to see them finish this stage of their life….because I probably will not see them again.

I really have no idea what’s going to happen after I’m done with CTI. I’m trying not to think too much about it because I figure I have plenty of time to decide, and I don’t want to miss out on what’s going on in my life right now by worrying about what might happen later. At the same time though, a year is not THAT long…the time for decision making is going to be here before I know it, and I’d like to be somewhat prepared.

I have some thoughts in my head, but they aren’t complete yet…when they are I’ll be sure to share them 🙂

(This is Jose; he’s a student I had back when he was in 5th grade…I was taller than him back then)
